Between 1932 and 1954 Robert Capa took the pictures that were to
make him legendary as a war photographer. Many of them are photographs
from the front line, but even though he is best known for his pictures
from the Spanish Civil War and the Normandy landings there was also
another aspect to his documentation of warfare – his depiction of the
sufferings of civilians.
The exhibition at the Nobel Museum (27 September 2007 - 6 January 2008)
comprised about 70 photographs and included portraits of several Nobel
Laureates that Capa met and worked with. The exhibition was
arranged in collaboration with Magnum Photos, the photographic agency
in Paris that Capa himself was involved in founding in 1947.
